Convocations

The Holy Convocations of Adonai are recorded in Leviticus 23.

Adonai said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel: ‘The designated times of Adonai which you are to proclaim as holy convocations are my designated times.'”

verse 3: Shabbat
“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is a Shabbat of complete rest, a holy convocation; you are not to do any kind of work; it is a Shabbat for Adonai, even in your homes.

verse 5: Passover, Adonai’s Pesach
Yeshua was crucified on Pesach.
Yeshua said, “This is why the Father loves me: becaue I lay down my life – in order to take it up again! No one takes it away from me; on the contrary, I lay it down of my own free will. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it up again. This is what my Father commanded me to do.” (John 10:18)

verse 6: Unleavened Bread, Matzah
Sinless Yeshua was buried on the eve of this festival.
“He made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:9) “By his knowing pain and sacrifice, my righteous servant makes many righteous; it is for their sins that he suffers.” (Isaiah 53:11).

verse 9: First Fruits, Reshit Katzir
Yeshua was resurrected from the dead on this feast day.
“But the fact is that the Messiah has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have died. For since death came through a man, also the resurrection of the dead has come through a man. For just as in connection with Adam all die, so in connection with the Messiah all will be made alive. But each in his own order: the Messiah is the firstfruits; then those who belong to the Messiah, at the time of his coming” (1 Corinthians 15:20-23).

verse 15: Weeks, Shavuot
The giving of the law at Mount Sinai, and the giving of the Holy Spirit after the resurrection of the Messiah happened on this day.
Yeshua said, “But the Counselor, the Ruach HaKodesh, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything; that is, he will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
“But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says Adonai, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:33).

verse 23: Trumpets, Yom Teruah
“Adonai spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to the Children of Israel, saying: In the seventh month, on the first of the month, there shall be a rest day for you, a remembrance with shofar blasts, a holy convocation. You shall not do any laborious work, and you shall offer a fire-offering to Adonai.

verse 26: Atonement, Yom Kipuur
“It is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.”

verse 33: Booths, Sukkot
“You are to observe it as a feast to Adonai seven days in the year; it is a permanent regulation, generation after generation; keep it in the seventh month. You are to live in sukkot for seven days, every citizen of Israel is to live in a sukkah, so that generation after generation of you will know that I made the people of Israel live in sukkot when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am Adonai your God.”
